Greek yogurt 1+ coconut sugar = happy chap

Just as I thought Harry has given up spoon fed foods all together he attacked my Greek yogurt, had loads of it and the face was like this the whole time. Can you tell he likes it?
ps: on the background daddy with a horrible abscess that got him stuck at home with a massive face for a couple of days this week.

Carrots and cheese

He still won't eat much but at least we are going further than bread and yogurt now. This morning I tried to spoon feed him some baby porridge with banana and that didn't go down well. I'm not sure if the cereal was just not to his taste or if he is no longer kin on me trying to feed him. I'm not too worried as he done well on his other meals. The best thing at the moment is that he went from breastfeeding every 2 to 2:30 hours (it seemed to start a few weeks ago and it was draining my little energy away) to do it every 3 to 3:30 depending on the time of day and if he had some solids in between. Mummy is a happy bunny!!

at sweet potato heaven

Sweet potatoes cut into chips and roasted in oven for about 20 minutes and guess what? He loves it! Had it two days in a row, he chews the skin outside which is nice and crispy and squeezes it to suck the inner meat. Great technique little guy!!

Now that his sitting up skills are almost natural to him,
he will eat even when out and about.

So the time has come to introduce lill guy to the amazing world of Solid Foods. I have been looking forward to it, researching everything about different methods, equipment and recipes. I was decided that Baby Led Weaning was the way to go and with that in mind we waited until Harry turned 6 months to then start giving him some finger food to play with. I had it all planned out only I could not foresee that on the exact day I had planned to start giving some bits of solid food he was actually going catch his first cold.

Of course I kept on trying but for most of December and January lill guy just wasn't up for new experiences at all. His ears are better now - even though we are still waiting for an appointment with a ENT - and he surely seems a lot more adventurous. The whole solids story is still a hit and miss affair and the hardcore BLW'ers out there will have to forgive me but I decided to take the Harry Led Weaning approach, it mainly means that I am trying different things and reading his little reactions to see what works better for us. Some days he will only take food from a spoon, other days no spoon will get anywhere near his mouth.

Today for example (he is now 7 and a half months old) after at least 4 days without much food at all, apart from some bread and yogurt with mashed up fruit, he actually had a bit of banana in the morning - a tiny bit but I was happy about it - 3 sticks of roast sweet potato for lunch, 1 biscuit in the afternoon - no sugar or salt - and even nicked some of my yogurt in the evening just before bedtime. So today mummy goes to bed happy, at least until the whole up and down story starts but that is another business all together.
